Launched on December 1,2022, DigiYatra is an initiative introduced by Ministry of Civil Aviation(MOCA) and DigiYatra Foundation in order to provide a seamless, hassle-free and paperless flying experience to the passengers along with drastic reduction in wait time.

Almost all major airports in India like Indira Gandhi International Airport, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Kempegowda International Airport etc. have adapted this feature.

Here is a step by step guide on how to use DigiYatra service and everything else that you need to know about this newly launched initiative.

What is DigiYatra

DigiYatra is an Initiative taken by MOCA(Ministry Of Civil Aviation) and DigiYatra Foundation that offers Biometric Enabled Seamless Travel (BEST) experience based on Facial Recognition System (FRS). Your face will act as your boarding pass and Identification proofs.

Hence you need not carry any additional documents, giving a seamless and paperless experience when you fly.

Using this service, you experience a lesser wait time as it ensures quick entry to Airport Terminal, security check and Boarding Gate

All domestic passengers flying by any airline can avail DigiYatra Service by downloading the DigiYatra App from Google Play or App Store. Alternatively, they can register at Terminal Entry to avail the service.

Registration on App

Download the DigiYatra App from Google Play or App Store.

Link your ID credentials using DigiLocker or offline Aadhar. If you choose offline Aadhar, an XML file has to be uploaded.
Note: Aadhar below 5 years of age will not be accepted.

Click a clear selfie and upload it when prompted.

Upload your boarding pass on the app and share with the Departure Airport.
Note: Make sure the name on your flight ticket, boarding pass and Aadhar are same.

Registration at Terminal

Find the Super fast DigiYatra kiosk once your arrive at the Airport.

Scan your boarding pass and register your face.

Complete registration at CISF manned desk by providing Govt. approved ID proof.

Steps to follow after registration

Airport Entry

Scan your Boarding Pass on DigiYatra E-Gate.

Look into the camera & get your face scanned.

After validation, the E-Gate will open to let you enter inside the Terminal.

Security Check

Walkup to the DigiYatra E-Gate at security check.

Look into the camera & get your face scanned.

After validation the E-Gate will open, proceed towards your Boarding gate.

Boarding Gate

Look in to the Biometric Camera at Boarding Gate and get your face scanned.

After validation proceed towards the Aircraft.

Kindly Note!

DigiYatra services have some limitations and it is advised to carry physical documents like ID Proofs, medical documents and boarding pass while you travel in case of emergencies.

Currently, access for foreign passport holders, international flyers, children below the age of 5 years and a person without an AADHAR card is restricted. In order to serve all flyers irrespective of age group and nationality, the related features will be available in a phased manner.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is DigiLocker mandatory to register for DigiYatra ?

DigiLocker is not mandatory. You can register using Aadhar number if you do not have DigiLocker.

Can I register on DigiYatra without web check-in ?

Yes. You can register on DigiYatra without web or mobile check-in. But before flying you must check-in on airline website to generate boarding pass and link boarding pass details by scanning or uploading it on DigiYatra App.

Can International passengers access DigiYatra app?

Currently only domestic passengers can access DigiYatra app. The access for International passengers will be live in a phased manner.

Do I have to register during every travel?

Registration on DigiYatra app is a one time process. You don’t have to register every time. You just need to share your travel details by linking your boarding pass before you fly.

Can a passenger with foreign passport access DigiYatra App?

Currently DigiYatra app is accessible only for the passengers carrying AADHAR card. The access for foreign passport holders will be live in a phased manner.

Why only AADHAR is accepted for registering in DigiYatra App?

Currently only AADHAR based registration works on DigiYatra App. The process of linking other government issued ID proofs is underway.

Can passengers with Infants access DigiYatra during their travel?

Currently children below 5 years of age are not allowed to access DigiYatra system. This feature will be live soon.

Do I still need to carry my ID proofs while using DigiYatra?

It is advisable to carry physical ID proofs to avoid any emergency situation.

How passengers with turban are validated?

The Biometric algorithm extracts the template for a face match using certain points on the face. Wearing a turban does not impact this validation.

Will there be any issue if my name appears different in boarding pass and AADHAR?

Your name should be same in boarding pass and AADHAR card.

How to share my travel details with the Departure Airport?

1. Check-in to generate your boarding pass.
2. Scan the bar code of your Boarding Pass in the DigiYatra App and share with the Delhi Airport before the flight and get confirmation.
OR
2. Upload your Boarding Pass from your mobile on the app before the flight and get confirmation.
Make sure to carry your physical/mobile Boarding Pass for scanning at the Airport.

What is the process of entering inside the airport via DigiYatra?

There are dedicated gates, also known as E-gate where you can find DigiYatra Kiosk. Once you locate the kiosk, you can scan your boarding pass and your face to get access to the airport terminal.
