DigiYatra – Rules and Benefits (Updated 2024)

Launched on December 1,2022, DigiYatra is an initiative introduced by Ministry of Civil Aviation(MOCA) and DigiYatra Foundation in order to provide a seamless, hassle-free and paperless flying experience to the passengers along with drastic reduction in wait time.

Almost all major airports in India like Indira Gandhi International Airport, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Kempegowda International Airport etc. have adapted this feature.

Here is a step by step guide on how to use DigiYatra service and everything else that you need to know about this newly launched initiative.


What is DigiYatra

DigiYatra is an Initiative taken by MOCA(Ministry Of Civil Aviation) and DigiYatra Foundation that offers Biometric Enabled Seamless Travel (BEST) experience based on Facial Recognition System (FRS). Your face will act as your boarding pass and Identification proofs.

Hence you need not carry any additional documents, giving a seamless and paperless experience when you fly.

Using this service, you experience a lesser wait time as it ensures quick entry to Airport Terminal, security check and Boarding Gate

All domestic passengers flying by any airline can avail DigiYatra Service by downloading the DigiYatra App from Google Play or App Store. Alternatively, they can register at Terminal Entry to avail the service.

Registration on App

  1. Download the DigiYatra App from Google Play or App Store.

  1. Register using your Aadhar linked mobile phone number and OTP.

  1. Link your ID credentials using DigiLocker or offline Aadhar. If you choose offline Aadhar, an XML file has to be uploaded.
    Note: Aadhar below 5 years of age will not be accepted.

  1. Click a clear selfie and upload it when prompted.

  1. Upload your boarding pass on the app and share with the Departure Airport.
    Note: Make sure the name on your flight ticket, boarding pass and Aadhar are same.


Registration at Terminal

  1. Find the Super fast DigiYatra kiosk once your arrive at the Airport.

  1. Scan your boarding pass and register your face.

  1. Complete registration at CISF manned desk by providing Govt. approved ID proof.


Steps to follow after registration

Airport Entry
Scan your Boarding Pass on DigiYatra E-Gate.
Look into the camera & get your face scanned.
After validation, the E-Gate will open to let you enter inside the Terminal.

Security Check
Walkup to the DigiYatra E-Gate at security check.
Look into the camera & get your face scanned.
After validation the E-Gate will open, proceed towards your Boarding gate.

Boarding Gate
Look in to the Biometric Camera at Boarding Gate and get your face scanned.
After validation proceed towards the Aircraft.

Kindly Note!

DigiYatra services have some limitations and it is advised to carry physical documents like ID Proofs, medical documents and boarding pass while you travel in case of emergencies.

Currently, access for foreign passport holders, international flyers, children below the age of 5 years and a person without an AADHAR card is restricted. In order to serve all flyers irrespective of age group and nationality, the related features will be available in a phased manner.
