New Delhi Metro, also known as Airport Express Line is the fastest and one of the most convenient ways of transport amongst people of New Delhi. There are two metro lines, Orange & Magenta that connect the IGI airport to rest of the places in New Delhi city.

1. Orange Line or Airport Express Line
The Orange Line, also known as New Delhi Airport Express Line, operates between Dwarka Sector 21 to the New Delhi Railway Station, while connecting the airport.
The line runs at a speed of 110 km/h (68 mph) providing for a less than 15-minutes journey from New Delhi to IGI Airport, making it the fastest metro line in the country.
To reach terminal 2 and terminal 3 of IGI Airport, passengers need to get down at IGI Airport metro station.
Location
The IGI Airport metro station is located underground within Terminal 3(T3) of the airport. To reach the Metro station, follow the signs once you arrive at T3. One can exit from Gate No. 4 and walk till pillar no. 9 to find the entrance to the Delhi Metro.
Facilities
- WhatsApp Based Ticketing – To avoid rush during peak hours, on 30th May 2023, Delhi Metro launched a WhatsApp Ticket service allowing passengers to book their tickets digitally.
- Self Ticketing – Automatic Ticket Issuing Machine (TIM) is set up at the T3 domestic and international arrivals, and outside T2 arrivals to facilitate Passengers to book their own tickets.
- WiFi – All the metro stations in the Airport express line are WiFi enabled.
- Check-In Facility – The line has a check-in facility allowing Passengers flying from T3 terminal to check in at the New Delhi Metro Station and Shivaji Stadium Metro Station. The check-in can be done anytime before 12 hours to 2 and half hours before departure time.
- Cloak room facilities – Cloak rooms are available with rates beginning at Rs 50 for the first 4 hours for luggage weighing less than 20 kilograms, to Rs 350 for 24 hours for luggage weighing more than 30 kilograms.
- Disabled Friendly – All stations are designed in a way so that Physically challenged people can access the facilities seamlessly.

The airport express line fare ensures a cost-effective and convenient travel experience for passengers.

Maximum Fare – INR 60.00

2. Magenta Line
The magenta line connects Terminal 1 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport to Janakpuri West and Botanical Gardens. It is the first driverless metro line in India which has a fully automated grid of about 97kms.
Location
Terminal 1 I.G.I Airport metro station is located underground within Terminal 1(T1) of the airport. To reach the Metro station, follow the signs once you arrive at T1.
One can exit from Gate No. C and take the subway to reach the metro station.

To reach Terminal 2 or Terminal 3 from Terminal 1 or vice versa, there are three options available:
- Take the feeder bus service that runs from IGI T3 and T2 to T1 and vice versa
- Take a cab or taxi to reach T3 or T2 from T1 which is approximately 6 kms of journey.
- If time is not a constraint, take a metro from Magenta Line at IGI Terminal 1 Station, travel to Janakpuri West. Upon arrival at Janakpuri West, make a transfer to the Blue Line and continue your journey to Dwarka Sector 21.
From Dwarka Sector 21, switch to the Airport Express line, and your second stop will be IGI Terminal 3.
