To avoid rush during peak hours, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), on 30th May 2023, has launched a WhatsApp-based Ticketing Service for the ease of travellers in Delhi Metro. This all new ticketing system allow passengers to book metro ticket on WhatsApp by generating a QR based ticket.
The facility is available in Airport Express Line or Orange Line that connects New Delhi Airport directly to New Delhi Railway Station through Metro Train Service.
On October 6,2023, the digital ticketing system has been expanded for use to all 12 metro lines and 288 metro stations under Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) including the Gurugram Rapid Metro.
Here is a step by step guide on how to book metro ticket on WhatsApp using system generated QR code:
- Save the official no. of DMRC, 9650855800 in your contact list.
- Open WhatsApp app and send a message “Hello” to this number.
- The Chatbot will reply with an automated message to select the preferred language i.e. English or Hindi. Choose the suitable language.
- After choosing the language, the bot will ask to choose from three options:
- Select the first option “Buy Tickets”.
- Select source and destination station from six metro stations on Airport Express line or Orange Line.
- Select the number of tickets you want.
- Review your details and proceed to make the payment.
- You will receive a link for payment.
- Once you pay for the ticket, you will receive a QR-based ticket on WhatsApp.
Points to remember
2. Tickets are valid till end of day.
3. Tickets once booked cannot be cancelled.
4. Passengers should exit from destination station within 65 minutes from the time of entry.
5. For exit at source station, passengers should leave within 30 minutes from the time of entry.
6. No convenience fees will be charged if UPI payment method is opted.
7. Ticket booking is available between 4 am to 11 pm for the Airport Express Line (Orange Line). For other lines, the window is open from 6 am to 9 pm.
